115 N 18th St in Richmond, Virginia is your destination for adventuring by bike. We are open Monday through Friday from 11-6pm and Saturday 11-5pm.

Established in 2018.

In 2016, Glenn founded Shift Bicycles...a wee but fierce! bike shop offering a small but proper collection of bicycles and accessories focused on the touring and commuting enthusiasts . Over the course of the next two years, Shift Bicycles emerged as the mid-atlantic regional expert in global trekking, die hard commuting, and adventure cycling. In 2018 Shift outgrew it's space, moved next door, renamed to Journeymans Adventure Co. and now offers a much larger scope of amazing bicycles, parts and accessories for the adventure bicyclist. Journeyman's Adventure Co. curates and stocks only the best in class and is much more than a bicycle shop, we're an Adventure Company.

Meet the Business Owner

Glenn Amey

Meet our fearless leader. Glenn has been a small business owner in the heart of Richmond for nearly 30 years. Fresh out of college he founded a goldsmithing studio and emerged as a premier craftsman of custom engagement rings. If you dropped in during those years and the shop was closed he was likely somewhere in the world on a bike. Today, when's he's not in the shop or out riding, you can find him leading a Bicycling Curriculum at the Richmond Waldorf School.

Austin Martin, Shop Assistant

  Austin grew up in the Richmond area and loves nothing more than setting out for the day on a bike with snacks and coffee in tow. He's grateful for the great riding and park system the city has, and you can often find him bouncing around on local trails, probably walking up the technical sections..! Aside from loving all things bikes, Austin is also a musician and is lucky to teach and perform regularly in the area.
